My small business journey began in 2008 when I first opened an online shop that sold baby shower items (diaper cakes, washcloth lollipops, etc.). I learned everything on my own including product research, marketing, pricing, starting up a website, etc. Needless to say, there were many late nights spent trying to figure it all out. The late nights and many hours were worth it to see my little dream come to life.
Over time I realized I really loved the behind-the-scenes aspect, the designing. I purchased Photoshop Elements (we all start somewhere) and took off from there! I closed up my former shop and opened Miss Design Girl a while later, a place where I can help other struggling small shop owners with their branding needs. And no, I don’t use Photoshop Elements anymore, but I do use Adobe illustrator.
I’ve always been a crafty person, but Miss Design Girl wasn’t the place to share that side of myself. I started Happiest Things Studio as a “sister site”! Happiest Things Studio is all about my happiest things and if I can provide others with a little joy and fun, even better! During the pandemic I started offering free coloring pages on HTS to help my followers pass the time. To my surprise messages and thank yous starting pouring in. I got such a kick out of seeing the tagged images on social media of everyone enjoying the coloring pages. In May of 2021 I opened a Patreon site that offers exclusive coloring pages and digital rewards, what can I say- it turns out I love designing coloring content as well. You just never know where life will lead you!
In my “spare” time I’m spending time with my family, homeschooling my son, planning my next trip to Disney, reading, or floating around the pool!
