Paper Heart Craft

· ·

This valentine paper heart craft project is SUPER easy! You probably have everything you need at home. The paper hearts are perfect as a valentine decoration, gift topper or ornament.

Supplies: paper / twine / scissors / stapler

I used this fun double sided Minnie themed scrapbook paper from Hobby Lobby.

Step 1: Cut 1 inch wide strips. I cut the length to 7 inches, the longer you make the paper strips the bigger the heart will be.

Step 2: I’m going to base the measurements below on the 7 inch length strips (you would need to adjust the measurements if you made the strips longer).

  • Cut one strip in half at the 4 inch mark- you’ll have two 4 inch pieces.
  • Cut two strips to 5 inches
  • Cut two strips to 6 inches
  • Don’t trim the 7 inch strips

You’ll have two stacks of strips, each stack should have 4 strips (4″, 5″, 6″, 7″)

Step 3: Straighten and align the two stacks of strips like below.

Step 4: Turn one stack so they are back to back. At the bottom of the stacks slip a piece of twine between the two stacks.

Step 5: Staple the stacks together making sure to include the twine in the staple.

Step 6: Start bending the pieces down until they meet each other. They will form a heart.

Step 7: Keep going until you have flipped down all of the strips.

Step 8: Staple the ends together

Tie off the twine and you’re done! I think double sided scrapbook paper is perfect for this little project because you can see both sides of the heart. Construction paper would work too!
